Why should you join us?

The organisation

We’re an organisation that puts our users at the heart of what we do. Our aim is to help everyone find a way forward with their problems and everything we do is to help make this a possibility. Whether you’re working on our online advice content, Casebook ( the case management system our advisers use), our Innovation Lab or anything in between, our core principle is to deliver the best outcomes for those turning to us in their time of need.

Flexibility

Working Location

We have a fully flexible working model, with no current plans to change this.

We have 4 national offices in London, Birmingham, Leeds and Cardiff, any of which you’re free to work from — but if you want to work from home, that’s fine too!

Most of our team choose to split their time between an office and home and our technology, channels, platforms and forums support our ability to work remotely and effectively together.

There may be the odd occasion when we want to get everyone together but beyond that it’s up to you where you work from (as long as it’s within England and Wales).

Working Patterns
Lots of us work flexible hours, so our roles suit people with caring responsibilities, working parents, people returning to work and those who just prefer a bit more leeway than the standard 9 to 5.

Being yourself
As a team, we focus on wellbeing, bringing your whole self to work, supporting each other and having fun! We’re a friendly bunch and it’s a really exciting time for us as a team.

Your Development
We spend a fair amount of time thinking about how we can support each other to develop and lots of our Senior Delivery Managers have progressed from Delivery Manager roles.

Capability Framework
In 2021 we worked with Emily Webber to develop a capability framework that we’re currently in the process of iterating. This breaks down what our teams need from us and the skills and knowledge we need to be able to give it to them.

This outlines a clear direction of where to focus learning and development for personal growth. we regularly map ourselves against this to help with goal setting and to give us a steer at team level of where to focus on joint development opportunities.

We iterate this too, to make sure that it’s current and enables us to be the best delivery team we can be.

Flexible workforce planning
This year we’ve introduced a flexible workforce planning model which enables our delivery people to move into different types of teams to gain new skills and broaden our experience.

Areas of ownership
We’ve also introduced areas of ownership, which are also open to regular rotation to allow people to focus on developing an initiative within the delivery team. Launching and iterating a team health survey or exploring how and where we could standardise some of our progress metrics are just a couple of examples.

Our community of practice
We spend regular time together in a non-hierarchical environment thinking about how to develop the practice of delivery collectively and lots of the above have been generated from our discussions. In addition we also:

  • Host regular delivery lunches with external speakers
  • Run a coaching circles initiative to provide a platform for us to practice and hone our coaching skills
  • Provide a coaching and consultancy service to teams without delivery managers to develop our own coaching and facilitation skills
  • Get together regularly for things like lean coffee, lightning talks and blog clubs.
